Japan and Culture Association in Lille

Founded in 1989 as a non-profit association (under the French law of July 1, 1901), the Japanese School of Nord–Pas-de-Calais is located in Villeneuve d’Ascq.

Situated in a residential area, just 7 minutes from the Triolo metro station, the school benefits from the facilities provided by the city of Villeneuve d’Ascq, its main partner.

In this region of France, stretching from Paris to the Belgian border, the Japanese School is the only organization run by and for Japanese and Franco-Japanese residents. It serves as a meeting place for the Japanese community and offers classes for children. Currently, about 40 Japanese students attend our school.

JAPANESE LANGUAGE CLASSES

The courses, taught in Japanese, are recognized by Japan's Ministry of Education. They aim to ease the transition back into the Japanese school system.

JAPANESE COURSES FOR FRENCH SPEAKERS

To meet the growing demand from individuals wanting to learn or improve their Japanese, the school offers evening classes for adults and Wednesday afternoon classes for teenagers.

PRIVATE LESSONS (French for Japanese speakers or Japanese for French speakers)

We offer beginner to advanced French or Japanese lessons, either individually or in groups.
(Please contact us for more information.)

CULTURAL MEETUPS AND LEISURE ACTIVITIES

Beyond its educational mission, the school is a place for Japanese families and anyone interested in Japanese culture to meet and share. Traditional cultural activities like Shodo (calligraphy) are available to the public. The school also has a library with Japanese books for both children and adults.
